Admissions Information for the Certificate in Training and DevelopmentEnrollment and Registration ProceduresApplications for admission to the certificate program are accepted year-round. However, applications may take up to a month to be processed.
The application will be reviewed and the applicant notified of the decision via email. Note that applications will not be reviewed until all application materials are received. Each semester, the student will contact the NCSU Distance Education Office to determine registration procedures, course availability, and registration dates. At the end of each semester, the student will submit a Documentation of Course Completion (Word) (pdf) form to the Certificate Coordinator via email in order to maintain approved status in the Certificate Program. All Certificate Students are expected to maintain continuous enrollment every semester (excluding summer sessions) until all course work is completed. Under unusual circumstances, a one-semester leave of absence will be granted if the student is unable to enroll in a course. Written approval from the certificate coordinator must be obtained before the beginning of the semester. Certificate CompletionWhen all certificate coursework is completed, the student will submit an official NC State transcript documenting completion of contracted course work to the program coordinator with a note explaining that the student has completed the certificate. Upon receipt of the transcript and verification of certificate completion, the NC State Graduate Certificate in Training and Development will be awarded. The student will be mailed an official certificate and the student's transcripts will note completion of the certificate. Transfer to Graduate Degree ProgramsUp to 12 hours of course work taken as a Non-Degree Studies (NDS) Student may be applied, under certain circumstances, to a graduate degree. The NDS classification and admission to a certificate program, however, carry no guarantee that the student will be admitted to the graduate school in any degree classification. Students who earn credits in the NDS or PBS classification and are interested in pursuing a graduate degree should contact the Director of Graduate Programs in either the Department of Adult and Higher Education or in another department within the University related to the student's degree interest. The Department of Adult and Higher Education offers both Master's and Doctoral degrees. |
